Dr Khosa is also an accredited South African Qualification Authority (SAQA) facilitator, moderator, and assessor. He is also an accredited expert in the management of labour-intensive construction. In addition to his other qualifications Dr Khosa has received several certificates for short accredited courses certified by the University of Cape Town: Certificate in Property Development and Finance (2018), Health Assessor Profile Course (2015), Business Risk Management (2014), Advanced Project Management (2014), Practical Labour (2014), Export and Import Management (2013), Personal Financial Management (2013), Copywriting for Online Marketing (2013), Small Business Management (2013), Corporate Executive Coaching (2013), and Coaching to Excellence (2007).
Dr Khosa has been a member of the Institute of Directors of Southern Africa (IoDSA) since 2007. He has attended accredited and certified training courses offered by the IoDSA, which include: Being a Director, Practical approach to implementing corporate governance, Increasing board effectiveness, the boards’ role in sustainability, integrated reporting, and sustainability, the role of the board of directors, Mastering chairmanship, insights into King IV, and Financial insights for non-financial directors.
Dr Khosa is the advisor of leaders and change makers around the world. He excels in consulting, advisory and coaching, providing a fresh approach to these services. He has designed, developed and implemented an executive coaching programme for public- and private clients to equip and empower over 5 000 officials with the coaching leadership skills and tools necessary to successfully lead organisations with up to 10 000 people.
With his experience in the public and corporate sectors, Dr Khosa has mentored and coached several thousand executives, directors and senior managers. He has successfully rolled out the coaching programme in over 20 public sector institutions, producing dramatic improvements in team productivity and enhanced resource utilisation.
Dr Khosa has also conceptualised, devised, conducted and directed a number of strategic research programmes.
White papers drafted by Dr Khosa have translated into strategic public sector policies to drive the execution of local, provincial and national service delivery programmes. He has also advised, assisted and supported provincial departments of education with planning, implementation, monitoring and oversight of the building/maintenance of 24 000 South African public schools with an annual budget of R2 billion.
Dr Khosa has reviewed numerous national strategic public sector programmes including the South African Nuclear Human Asset & Research Programme (SANHRP), the Intellectual Property of the Pebble Bed Modular Reactor (PBMR) Research Capacity, and technology infrastructure of the National Health Laboratory Service (NHLS).
In 1997 Dr Khosa was appointed as a strategic team member of the Presidential Review Commission established by Dr Nelson Mandela.
Over the past 25 years he has worked as an academic at the University of Natal (1992-1995) and as a policy analyst, strategist, researcher, columnist, author, programme evaluator and consultant in South Africa and the United Kingdom.
Dr Khosa was Research Director and later Executive Director for the Democracy and Governance research programme at the Human Sciences Research Council from (1998-2001). He has also held research and academic fellowships at Cambridge University (1995), Dartmouth College (USA) (1995) and the University of Manchester (2001).
He was the Founder General Manager of the MTN Foundation (2001-2006), responsible for managing large-scale corporate social investment at the MTN Group. Over the years Dr Khosa has offered his expertise to several private companies to implement their corporate social responsibility programmes.
